Cameron, Missouri
Cameron, Missouri sits at the crossroads of the nation. It is located at the intersection of I-35, running north and south, and US Highway 36, running east and west. The average car count is 13,201 a day on I-35, and 12,421 a day on US 36, for a total car count of 25,622 a day. As a result, the town has become a center for services, shopping, great food, and accommodations for the weary traveler. If you’re on the road, plan to visit! Cameron is a friendly town, with deep roots. Those elements have created a strong community with many events throughout the year, all with the enthusiasm of a small town with a big heart. For instance, the Cameron Municipal Band performs free concerts weekly at the Thomas J. Price Memorial Pavilion in McCorkle Park from Memorial Day thru the first Thursday August. In 1929, the citizens of Cameron imposed a tax on themselves to support their municipal band, and have done so ever since.
Parades, egg hunts in the park, fireworks shows, and Holiday pageants just to mention a few more.

St Joseph, Missouri
If you were traveling west to the frontier, you went thru St Joseph. Sitting along the Missouri River, this was the final stop before heading on, full of hope – for a new home, and a better life. Thousands of settlers arrived by train, or steamboat, bought all their wagons, oxen and supplies, and waited in line to be ferried across the river on the next leg of their journey.
With it’s origins as a trading post, and with a vital ferry system, St Joe later became a center for distributing cattle and grain back to the east. That led to becoming a center for meat packing, and the stockyards are a symbol of the town’s colorful history.
Anything that was needed for building in the west could be found in St Joseph, and as the west grew, the city was once again the key distribution center for their products back to the east.
The city was formed in 1843, and has a long and active past by virtue of being a gateway. Things were difficult during the Civil War years, as Missouri was quite divided in its loyalties and allegiances, but the city rebounded quickly. It served for several years as the eastern terminus of the Pony Express.
History is alive on every street!
In 2010, in a combined effort with Missouri Western State University and the Kansas City Chiefs, St Joseph became the host for KC Chiefs Summer Training Camp.
Love those Chiefs!!
